ULCERATION.

Q. : What is the character of the ulceration of Nitricum acidum?

A. :

The ulcers are
irregular, deep and filled with exuberant granulations, bleed on slightest
touch, have sticking pains in them and burn violently.

Q. : How does Mercurius differ from Kalium bichromicum in ulceration ?

A. :

The ulcers of Mercurius
are rapidly
spreading and superficial, while those of Kali
bichromicum
are
circumscribed and deep with tendency to perforate.

Q. : What are some remedies having pimples, blisters or pustules
surrounding ulcers ?

A. :

Lachesis,
Arsenic, Phosphorus, Lycopodium, Mercurius, Hepar sulphur,
and
Silicea.

Q. : What is characteristic of the Lachesis ulceration ?

A. :

The great
sensitiveness when touched, the blueness, and the bad odor.

Q. : Give indications for Arsenicum.

A. :

Burning,
lancinating pains ; ulcers bleed easily ; the discharge is excoriating,
dark and sanious.

Q. : What is the principal characteristic of the ulcers calling for Asa
foetida ?

A. :

Their extreme
soreness being intolerant of all dressings.

Q. : What three remedies have ulcers about the small joints of the
fingers ?

A. :

Borax,
Mezereum
and Sepia

Q. : What is the ulceration of Carbo vegetabilis ?

A. :

Varicose ulcers
of low type, flat ulcers discharging a thin ichorous pus, which is burning
and offensive ; the burning is worse at night.

URINARY DISORDERS.

Q. : What are the characteristic urinary symptoms of Apis ?

A. :

Urine scanty or
suppressed, with general oedema and drowsiness, lack of thirst and
suffocation on lying down.

Albuminous urine with tube casts.

Q. : What has Asparagus been used for ?

A. :

Cystitis,
enlarged prostate and catarrh of the neck of the bladder.

Q. : In what urinary trouble is Belladonna frequently indicated ?

A. :

Involuntary
urination during sleep in children.

Q. : Give the urinary symptoms of Benzoicum acidum.

A. :

Irritable
bladder, with dribbling of strong-smelling urine it is high colored and of
a very offensive ammoniacal odor, like that of the horse.

Q. : What are the kidney symptoms of Berberis ?

A. :

Sticking,
tearing pains in the renal region ; worse from deep pressure.

The pains extend down the back, and down the ureters into the bladder ;
the back feels stiff and numb and the pains radiate from the kidneys to
it.

Q. : Continue and give bladder symptoms of Berberis.

A. :

Cutting in the
bladder, extending down the urethra ; burning pain on urinating ; the
urine is yellow, turbid and flocculent, with whitish or red sediment ;
tearing pains in the bladder.

Q. : Give in brief the urinary symptoms of Cantharis.

A. :

Persistent and
violent urging to urinate, with great tenesmus ; the urine is passed only
in drops, and seems like molten lead passing through the urethra ; intense
burning on urination, and aching in the small of the back.

Q. : Give the bladder symptoms of Causticum.

A. :

Paralysis of
the bladder ; involuntary urination while coughing ; nocturnal enuresis of
children during the first sleep.

Q. : Give two other drugs that have involuntary spurting of urine
during coughing.

A. :

Squilla and
Natrum muriaticum.

Q. : What are the indications for Chimaphila in urinary disorders ?

A. :

Catarrh of the
bladder, with offensive, turbid urine and great difficulty in commencing
to urinate.

Q. : What are the urinary symptoms of Digitalis ?

A. :

Strangury and
frequent urging to urinate ; urging at night from enlarged prostate ;
relief from lying down ; thick, yellow discharge from the urethra ; useful
in gonorrhea.

Q. : What are the urinary symptoms of Equisetum ?

A. :

Enuresis, with
marked vesical irritation, cystitis, painful urination and urging ;
bladder sore and tender ; great desire to pass water from pressure on the
bladder.

Q. : Give the indications for Eupatorium purpureum in the vesical
irritation of women.

A. :

Dysuria,
frequent painful urging with either excessive or scanty flow of urine,
which is high colored and contains mucus ; there is also aching in the
region of the kidneys.

Q. : What are the symptoms of Ferrum phosphoricum in the urinary sphere
?

A. :

Incontinence of
urine from weakness of the sphincter, constant dribbling of urine during
the daytime.

Q. : What is there characteristic about the urine of Ignatia ?

A. :

It is very
profuse and pale.

Q. : Give indications for Kalium phosphoricum in enuresis or wetting
the bed.

A. :

Where it is due
to a paralytic or paretic condition of the bladder or from nervous
debility ; there is inability to retain the urine.

Q. : What are the urinary symptoms of Lycopodium ?

A. :

The urine is
turbid and bad smelling and deposits a red sand ; child cries before
passing water on account of lithic acid in the urine, the diaper is
stained yellow.

Q. : What are the urinary symptoms of Nitricum acidum ?

A. :

The urine
smells as strong as a horse’s urine ; burning, tenesmus, and a sensation
as if sticks were in the urethra when urinating.

Q. : What are the urinary symptoms of Nux vomica ?

A. :

Painful,
ineffectual efforts to pass urine, with scanty discharge and burning ;
strangury, dribbling of urine in old people from enlarged prostate.

Q. : What are the characteristic symptoms of Pareira brava ?

A. :

Constant urging
to urinate, with pain in the glans penis and down thighs ; patient
sometimes has to get down on all fours to urinate, the straining is so
severe ; urine passes in drops and contains much thick and viscid mucus.

Q. : Give the chief use of Petroselinum.

A. :

A sudden desire
to urinate, which if not attended to at once causes severe pain ; children
dance up and down and cry when this desire seizes them.

Q. : What effect has Phosphorus on the kidneys ?

A. :

It produces a
marked nephritis, with profuse discharge of bloody urine which contains
casts.

Q. : What are the urinary symptoms of Sepia ?

A. :

Irritable
bladder, involuntary escape of urine during first sleep.

Red sediment in the urine which is acid and fetid.

Q. : What effect has Stramonium upon the urinary secretion ?

A. :

It causes
suppression of the urine, and has been found of use in suppression of
urine in typhoid fever.

Q. : What are the chief symptoms of Terebinthina ?

A. :

Dull, aching
pains in the rend region ; drawing pains and distressing strangury ; urine
scanty, bloody, dark and smoky looking and smelling like violets ; there
may be also excessive tympanites.

Q. : What symptoms call for Uva ursi ?

A. :

Burning,
scalding urination ; urine stops suddenly, as if a stone had rolled in
front of the internal orifice of the urethra.

Urine is ropy and bloody.

Q. : Give indications for Opium.

A. :

Retention of
urine from fright and after parturition.

Q. : What other drugs have retention of urine after labor ?

A. :

Hyoscyamus,
Causticum
and Arsenicum.

Q. : What drugs produce suppression of urine ?

A. :

Stramonium,
Zingiber, Lycopodium
and
Pulsatilla.

Q. : What are the urinary symptoms of Hepar sulphur ?

A. :

There is atony
of the muscular coats of the bladder.

The urine is voided very slowly by drops instead of a stream, and it
takes a long time to empty the bladder.

Nocturnal enuresis.

Q. : What are the indications for Pulsatilla in cystitis ?

A. :

Frequent urging
to urinate, as if the bladder were too full ; urine turbid.

A useful remedy for cystic symptoms during pregnancy.

Q. : What is a peculiar symptom of Kreosote ?

A. :

The patient
urinates while dreaming of the act.
